When I worked in the Hollywood entertainment
industry I had the pleasure of getting to work on the Sony studio lot. In the
middle of the lot was a cobblestone Main S treet lined with storefronts like a
soda fountain and ice cream parlor, a women’s hat department… and it looked as
if it was pulled directly out of the iconic movie Singing In The Rain with Gene
Kelly.
Early in my career I learned that if something
seemed to good to be true then it was. Being able to see past the façade and
see what is really behind the red curtains was essential in both my personal
and professional life. I would meet people along the way that would claim that
they could make the right introductions and get me a seat at the right dinner
tables. When in reality they were just dreamers and there was no real tangibles
behind their red curtains.
As an entrepreneur you might run across people
that claim the same. That they can make the right introductions get you a seat
at the right dinner tables so you can make bigger dollars and cents. Perhaps even
charge you big dollars in the form of “packages” to make that happen. But in
reality it takes years to build deep connections and just because someone sits
you at a table with high-level entrepreneurs doesn't guarantee they are going
to want to take the relationship to the next level.
Real business relationships
are built from the ground up based on trust and emotional connections. I
encourage my clients to pull back the red curtains so they don’t waste money
and time. I encourage them to fiercely protect their brand.
"I am committed to helping women entrepreneurs around the world leverage their unique brand in life and business to gain clarity and impact, to grow community and influence, to gain recognition and VISIBILITY for them and their brand."
